Mass Tank Inspection & Services (MTIS) is the certified class A/B underground storage tank system operator for an international, agricultural cooperative based in Massachusetts. One of our recent projects involved installation of a replacement back-up fuel tank. MTIS assumed full responsibility for complete project management including permitting, removal and replacement of the tank in close proximity to environmentally sensitive land.
Fabricated by Mass Tank, the new back-up fuel tank features thermal insulation, ballistic protection, and holds a two-hour fire rating. Installed in proximity to a nearby cranberry bog, MTIS prepared the installation site to prevent soil erosion and configured the plumbing and electrical systems to avoid all risk of environmental contamination.
MTIS also installed a Veeder-Root automated tank gauging system with dual-venting mechanisms, one for normal operations and the other for use in the event of an emergency. After thorough testing and inspection of the new setup, the new tank was configured to go online instantly when taking the old tank offline, which ensured the plant was never without a backup fuel source.
