About Our Industrial Steel Tanks
Industrial tanks can provide a range of benefits, protecting large quantities of substances from exposure to adverse conditions. At Mass Tank, we’ve been building industrial steel tank products that meet those requirements for over a century.
Our company is a member of the Steel Tank Institute. We serve over 10,000 active client accounts by providing aboveground tanks, underground tanks, pressure vessels, and more. We’re licensed by STI and Underwriter’s Laboratories and provide 30-year limited warranties on select tanks.
Aboveground Tanks
Our aboveground tanks sit above the surface and can safely hold bulk quantities of chemicals and fluids such as hazardous waste, petroleum, gasoline, and water.
UL 2085 Fireguard Tanks
When you need industrial storage tanks to withstand extremely adverse conditions with fire risks, we deliver. Our UL 2085 fireguard tanks come with the following:
- Lightweight Concrete Insulation. Each tank has a layer of insulative concrete between the walls to regulate the temperature and provide fire protection.
- Thorough Fire Testing. We test each tank to ensure it maintains a maximum temperature of 400 F while being exposed to a 2000 F fire for two hours.
- Impact and Ballistics Protection. The tank is built to withstand ballistic threats and general physical impact.
UL 142 Flameshield Tanks
If you need to store and protect flammable liquids, consider our UL 142 Flameshield tanks. UL 142 tanks are constructed with double walls of steel and can be compartmented to store multiple kinds of liquid, including potable water, jet fuel, gasoline, ethanol, methanol, fuel oils, diesel, or biofuels.
Individual tanks can hold anywhere from 300 to 50,000 gallons and come in horizontal, vertical, or compartmentalized designs. Flameshield tanks are also fire-tested for a minimum of two hours.
Water Tanks
Water tanks require special designs and materials depending on the intended use of the tank. For example, potable water tanks are highly regulated and must maintain hygienic water safety standards. Even aboveground tanks without pressurization must be well-constructed to handle the weight and pressure of the water.
At Mass Tank, we design and develop high-performance water tanks that can be used in all major industries and a wide range of applications. We provide our clients with aboveground, underground, ASME-rated, pressure, atmospheric-level, and other tanks.
You can choose from a range of linings and interior materials. Our fabrication and engineering teams create these and other water tanks with fast turnaround times:
- Fire Suppression Tanks
- Potable Water Tanks
- Waste Water Tanks
- Cooling Water Tanks
- Process Water Tanks
Underground Tanks
Our underground storage tanks (USTs) can safely hold regulated fluids. USTs include almost any tank or tank and pipe system that is at least 10% underground. However, USTs do not include non-commercial residential tanks or agricultural tanks with a capacity of less than 1,100 gallons that are meant for holding motor fuel. USTs also do not include septic tanks or tanks that hold heating oil for on-site applications.
Our underground water tanks are specially designed and constructed to provide long-lasting, reliable storage. Applications for our standard water USTs include:
- Fire suppression
- Potable water storage
- Wastewater management
We also provide custom steel water tanks designed to meet commercial, industrial, and municipal standards. Our tanks can also meet or exceed the standards of these regulatory bodies:
- API
- ASME
- AWWA
- NFPA
- UL
Pressure Vessels
Pressure vessels are reinforced, tanks that can store liquid or gaseous fluids at atypical pressures. We can produce custom pressure vessels for extremely high-pressure or low-pressure fluids, such as chemical tanks, gas tanks, glycol tanks, hydro tanks, and vacuum tanks. Every tank complies with strict regulatory standards and can be safely used in different commercial and industrial contexts.
Our tanks comply with Section VIII Division 1 and Section I of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Additional features of our pressure vessels include:
- Containment of reactive fluids that are above 15 psi
- Blasting, coating, and other surface treatments
- Inert designs for handling endothermic and exothermic reactions
